The Tuesday night Orioles game thread: at Yankees, 7:05

New, comments

The Orioles are losers of 15 of their last 18 games, and they will try to reverse their slide, for one game at least, on Tuesday against the Yankees, Masahiro Tanaka in particular. Well... good luck, guys.

Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

It is Tuesday and the Sunday forfeit lineup has been deployed. Adam Jones, with a tweaked shoulder and possibly banged up wrist, has the night off. Keeping him rested may be an important goal for the Orioles in future years. Probably a bit too late for that this year, but let's hope he gets well soon, because lineups that give us Nolan Reimold leading off, Chris Davis in right field, and Ryan Flaherty playing first base are, safe to say, not ideal.

But Jonathan Schoop's favorite pitcher, Masahiro Tanaka, awaits, so maybe even this patchwork unit will find a way to put some runs on the board. They are not bad at putting runs on the board, actually - three or four, just never when three or four is enough.

You know how it goes. Starting pitchers struggle... a lot. Is Kevin Gausman going to reverse that trend against the Yankees? Honestly, what team have YOU been watching? If you're lucky, it's not the Orioles. I feel like every day I write that it's brutal right now, and it is brutal. The Orioles have lost 15 of 18 games. That's just... dang. It hurts.
