ALCS Game 3 Open Thread

The ALCS moves from the land where the river caught on fire one time to the land where beer cans rain down from the stands alongside of racial epithets. Toronto enters this third game of the series facing a 2-0 deficit.

I can't say that I feel very bad for them. Certain Blue Jays are not taking the situation very well, including noted whiner Jose Bautista, who continually hints about "circumstances" that are causing the Jays to lose, and by "circumstances" he means he thinks the umpires are biased against the Jays with the strike zones.

This is absurd on several levels, including that Jays catcher Russell Martin is well-known as one of the biggest strike stealers of all MLB backstops, and also that the strike zone maps on sites like Brooks Baseball don't bear out Bautista's hints in the slightest. It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

Cleveland starter Trevor Bauer is pitching this game rather than an earlier game because he cut his finger while trying to repair his drone. Baseball needs more totally eccentric weirdos. I think I would probably be rooting for Cleveland in this series even if they were playing the Rangers rather than the Blue Jays.

This game will air on TBS, meaning that we will all get a dose of Carl Ripken tonight, if we choose to watch.
