World Series Game 3 Open Thread

David Banks-USA TODAY Sports

We've got ourselves a live one, folks. The World Series is knotted at a game apiece and baseball's championship returns to Chicago for the first time since the year World War II ended. That's no joke. I've been reading all over the Internet about how some people were out drinking at 7:45am and presumably they have just been drinking all day.

If the World Series came to Baltimore for the first time in your lifetime - and if you're my age or younger, the next time will be the first time - would you be tempted to do the same? Well, look, I'm not going to judge you if you would, but I wouldn't. Spending all day around drunk people sounds like hell to me, actually. But it's probably also awesome.

One thing that could be awesome and could be terrible is that Cleveland, since the game is in a National League park with their dumb rules, is sending out Carlos Santana into left field. The last time Santana started a game in left field in his professional career was in 2005 in the Gulf Cost League. The guy batted .259/.366/.498 and hit 34 bombs in the regular season. They're putting him out there and hoping for the best. It is a bold strategy.

One guy who is not in the starting lineup, and has yet to start a World Series game this year, is Jason Heyward, the $184 million defensive replacement/pinch hitter. The guy is in his age 26 season and his offensive output just fell off the table. Maybe he's secretly injured and he'll be fine next year, but in the meantime, it's crazy to see such a high-priced player just riding the pine.

There apparently might be a lot of offense in this game:

I guess we better all be prepared for another four hour slow-moving monstrosity.
