Note: We have reached capacity for this project! Thanks to everyone who volunteered. We'd still love to read your baseball thoughts, so please feel free to head to the FanPosts section. Thank you!
Opening Day is just five weeks away. We've had our ups and downs over the offseason, but I'm still pumped. I've been struck with an idea on how to properly kick off the 2016 baseball season, and I need your help to put it into action. Wouldn't it be great if you could devour delicious baseball content every single hour for 24 hours leading up to the first pitch for the Baltimore Orioles on Monday, April 4th at 3 p.m.? Can you even imagine how wonderful it will be to immerse yourself in that kind of baseball goodness?
This will be just like when the season premiere of your favorite show is starting soon, so the television network spends the hours leading up to it playing reruns to get you pumped. Except instead of reruns, this will be brand new, original content. And I'm hoping that some (er, most) of it will be written by you guys. I want this endeavor to be the genius work of not only the regular cadre of Camden Chat writers, but also you, the Camden Chat faithful readers and commenters.
Does this interest you? Perhaps you're wondering what you'd be asked to write about, and the answer is anything baseball related. Maybe you want to write about how your Granddad is the reason that you love baseball, or want to make some predictions for the 2016 season. Perhaps you feel the need to compose a poem in honor of the dongs Chris Davis has hit in the past, or get all stat-nerdy and break down a player or position. If you're a fantasy baseball player, we'd love to hear what you have to say about that. You could even get creative and provide us with a video or some fan art. Or if you know that you want to write but don't know what you'd write about, let me know that too. I will do my best to find you a good topic.
If this sounds up your alley, I hope you'll join in the fun. Below is the timeline/rule list for this adventure:
-
If you want to participate, email me at staceyfolkemer@gmail.com with the subject line "CC Opening Day Writer." In the email please provide me with your Camden Chat username. You can include the topic of your contribution if you know it, but the most important thing is that you let me know you'll participate so that I can determine the viability of this project.
-
Once you're on the list, start thinking of that topic! You'll need to provide that to me no later than March 21st, which is two weeks before Opening Day. This is not for the purposes of approval, it's just so that I don't get two stories on how Chris Tillman is going to win the 2016 Cy Young award.
-
Submissions are due by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, April 1st. I need them ahead of time so that I can edit, format, and schedule them to publish. If you are working on something that is time sensitive and need a later deadline, we can work that out on a case-by-case basis.
-
I reserve the right to refuse to publish any content that is offensive or otherwise unreadable. I don't anticipate that happening, but you never know. I will confer with Mark Brown on any submission that I believe should not be published.
- If you normally write for another blog/website, a blurb about said site will be more than welcome in your post.
That's it! I really hope you'll join me in what I think will be a cool project.
