The Orioles didn't lose yesterday! They also didn't win, but hey, baby steps, right? They will get a chance to be back in the win column today against the Pirates. The game will be televised on MASN and everything, almost as if it was a real baseball game.
It's not a real baseball game of course, perhaps the biggest sign of which is that the Orioles are using a designated hitter while their opponent, the Pirates, are not using a designated hitter. Is it so important to get Juan Nicasio, the Pirates starting pitcher, an at-bat or two? I guess it is. It's weird.
Today's Orioles lineup looks very, very regular season-y. In fact, I could see this exact lineup being used at some point in time.
1. Manny Machado 3B
2. Pedro Alvarez DH
3. Adam Jones CF
4. Chris Davis 1B
5. Mark Trumbo RF
6. Hyun Soo Kim LF
7. J.J. Hardy SS
8. Jonathan Schoop 2B
9. Caleb Joseph C
SP - Kevin Gausman RHP
That being the case, it would sure be nice for them to win - nicer still if they are able to head towards a win because Gausman has a nice outing, rather than one that kind of stinks like most of the O's starting pitching we have seen throughout this spring.
Orioles fans deserve some nice things. Maybe some day we'll actually get them. As we know, deserve got nothin' to do with it.
