Abandon all hope, ye who enter here. The Orioles send Mike Wright out against the Blue Jays tonight. How can this possibly end with a positive outcome? I mean, really. Of course stranger things have always happened in the game of baseball, but you don't want to be the person betting on something strange to happen. Most of the time what happens is what you would expect, and what you would expect is for Wright to get lit up like a Christmas tree.
Still, it'll be good that Orioles baseball is back. Two days off in a row when that wasn't expected is tough. What am I supposed to do when there's no baseball? I never have a good answer to this question. And despite my bad feelings about the game tonight, I will be out in the stands for the first time this year, so if we're all lucky, Wright will surprise me.
Wright last pitched a week ago, so let's also hope that he will be rested rather than rusty as he takes the mound tonight for what will be only his second start of the season.
Most Orioles have not seen a whole heck of a lot of Jays starter Marcus Stroman, either. Stroman has faced Ryan Flaherty the most, and that only seven times - and he's not starting. The few who had faced him in the past, well, let's hope they can turn it around, because the team combined has a .143/.172/.286 line against Stroman. The good news is, at only 28 combined plate appearances, that's a very small sample size.
