This is the first post of Camden Chat's 2016 Opening Day marathon. Over the next 24 hours we well be publishing 28 more stories written by Camden Chat's regular writing staff as well as members of our community. The stories include baseball cards, minor league logos, family baseball traditions, season previews, cocktails, and so much more. So please check back regularly between now and 3 p.m. tomorrow when the Orioles season officially begins.
The Orioles 40-man roster has been in flux in recent days and after the purging of Miguel Gonzalez, Chris Jones, and Zach Phillips, is down to 37 men.
You've probably seen these 40-man roster maps floating around the internet, and I think it's safe to say that the Orioles have one of the less complex diagrams. The format is simple: players on the orange loop are on the 40-man roster with a notation of how they were acquired. Those who were involved in trades have branches off indicating who was traded for them and how those players were acquired by the Orioles in the first place. Easy to follow, and also pretty, right?
