Orioles minor league rundown, 4/8/2016

Only one of the four full-season affiliates came out on the good side of last night's games. Let's review what travesties befell our future heroes...

Norfolk Tides 2, Gwinnett Barves 4

Second night in a row with a 2-run loss to Gwinnet for the Tides. The game was tied at 2 until the top of the 10th when Tides' reliever Zach Phillips allowed the 2 runs that proved to be the difference. Tides' starter Nick Additon pitched 5.0 IP with 2 ER allowed, and four Tides' relievers, including The Admiral, Oliver Drake, get the Barves in check until Phillips's entrance into the game. Offensively, 7 Tides collected a hit, but no one had as many as two.

Bowie Baysox 4, Akron RubberDucks 10

Baysox' starter David Hess gave up 3 ER in 4.0 IP, and reliever Dennis Torres gave up 5 ER in just 1.2 IP. On the bright side, Brian Matusz recorded a clean inning of work, allowing now runs on no hits and no walks and one strikeout. Adrian Marin was the only Baysox to record even 2 hits.

On the bright side for the Baysox, Trey Mancini has picked up 2016 where he left off last year, hitting his second home run of the season.

Frederick Keys 7, Myrtle Beach Pelicans 5

Myrtle Beach may have scored 5 runs for the second game in a row, but the Keys scored 7 tonight, not last night's 2, to take the win. Starter John Means went just 4.0 IP with 1 ER, and David Richardson collected the win with 2.0 IP of relief afterward. Aderlin Rodriguez had 3 hits and Jay Gonzalez and Jimmy Bosco had 2 each.

Delmarva Shorebirds 4, Hagerstown Suns 6

Delmarva shut out the Suns Thursday for the 4-0 win, and while the 'Birds put up another 4 runs, it wasn't enough Friday night. Starter Brian Gonzalez gave up 3 R (2 ER) in just 5.1 IP of work but didn't take the loss. That went to reliever Patrick Baker who also gave up 3 R (2 ER) in his 2.0 IP of work.  D.J. Stewart took and 0-for-4, while a trio of 'Birds collected two hits: Cedric Mullins, Alex Murphy, and Ryan Mountcastle.
