Good morning, Camden Chatters. We saw a great win last night that was hopefully a sign of good things to come for Adam Jones. He crushed a home run and had a really solid game-winning hit in the ninth inning and looked more like himself than we've seen in awhile. Stay tuned for more thoughts on that from Mark Brown later this morning, and if you missed yesterday's game or just want to re-live the fun, check out his recap from last night.
The O's are playing a day game today in Minnesota before heading home for the weekend, so dust off those headphones and tune into Joe Angel on the radio instead of doing work. You know you want to. Your boss told me she understands. That's if the game doesn't get rained out, of course.
Strasburg signing could affect Orioles' future pursuit of Machado megadeal - Baltimore Sun
Peter Schmuck says the Orioles should sign Manny Machado to an extension before the Nationals do so with Bryce Harper so that they'll be setting the market rather than the other way around.
The teams trading Curt Schilling always got worse value in return - Beyond the Box Score
Theory: Schilling was so annoying to be around that teams just sent him away for the first deal they were offered.
Orioles announce makeup dates and times - School of Roch
In case you missed it, Monday's rain out will take place on July 28th at 7:10 p.m. ET in Minnesota. The Orioles will stop there on their way to Toronto for an away series. And the Rays game that was rained out on April 9th will be made up as part of a split-admission doubleheader on Saturday, June 25th. For those of you who have ticket to the night game (like me) note that the time has been pushed back from 4 to 7.
Extending Jonathan Schoop - Camden Depot
Guest writer Joe Wantz takes a look at a possible extension for Jonathan Schoop. I personally think that extending Schoop is step one in extending Machado, so I'm all for it.
Should Wright Move to Bullpen? - Baltimore Sports and Life
Mike Wright has been hit or miss this year in the rotation, but I think we have time before a decision needs to be made. There is no one waiting in the wings to replace him except for the injured Yovani Gallardo, so giving Wright the starts until then will probably clear up the details on if it should be Wright or Wilson headed back to the 'pen.
Joe Coleman Pitches Baltimore’s First-Ever Complete-Game Shutout - Roar From 34
Our favorite O's historian checks in to give us an account of the first CGSO the Orioles ever had. I wonder if they'll get one this year.
Is today your birthday? Happy birthday! You have four Orioles birthday buddies, three of which you probaby have very few memories of. They are: Kerry Ligtenberg, who pitched in 68 games for the 2003 Orioles; Trent Hubbard, who impressively played for nine different teams in his ten-year career; and Mark Huismann, who pitched 11.1 innings for the 1989 Orioles. Your fourth and final O's birthday buddy is Milt Pappas, who pitched nine seasons for the Orioles before being traded to the Reds for Frank Robinson.
