Orioles minors 5/29: Matthew Grimes shines in Frederick

The O's affiliates went 2-1 with one rain out in yesterday's games.

Norfolk Tides vs. Scranton/WB: Postponed for Rain

Bowie Baysox 8, Altoona Curve (PIT) 3

New Baysock Brandon Barker, who came to the Orioles in the Brian Matusz trade, had an unimpressive start to his Orioles career. He gave up three runs in five innings with four walked batters. That was good enough to pick up the win, though, since the Baysox put eight runs on the board.

Chance Sisco has the day off so there weren't many exciting names to look for in the lineup. Garabez Rosa had a double and a home run to lead the offense with three RBI. Overall the Baysox racked up 12 hits against the Curve.

Frederick Keys 2, Carolina Mudcats (ATL) 0

Starting pitcher Matthew Grimes was outstanding in this game, pitching eight shutout innings with just two hits allowed, both singles. He struck out five, didn't walk any, and had 12 groundball outs.

Both Keys runs came in the second inning on back-to-back singles by Josh Hart and Erick Salcedo.

Lakewood BlueClaws (PHI) 4, Delmarva Shorebirds 2

The Shorebirds had just three hits in this game, which isn't going to garner many runs. Alex Murphy had a home run and a walk in this game, and D.J. Stewart went hitless with a walk.

Starting pitcher Brian Gonzalez had a rough day, giving up all four runs scored in only five innings. Eight hits and two walks are not the way to go if you don't want to give u runs.
