Norfolk Tides 4, Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs 6
Not a whole lot worth discussing here. The wheels came off for the Tides in the fourth as Andy Oliver and Scott McGough allowed five runs. T.J. McFarland and Brian Duensing were fine in relief. Trey Mancini walked and singled, Sharlon, brother of Jonathan smacked an Earl Weaver Special and Lil Yaz walked.
Bowie Baysox 4, Altoona Curve 9
Another town, another affiliate felled by a five run inning. Despite hitting three Curve batters, Jason Garcia had gutted out five innings. Things were left in the hands of the usually capable Baysox bullpen in the 6th and all hell broke loose. Jon Keller allowed a pair of baserunners, but got an out and was replaced by Donnie Hart. Hart allowed both the inherited runners to score and two of his own before yielding to Genison Reyes without having retired a batter. That kind of day.
Frederick Keys 1, Carolina Mudcats 4
It's just not happening for Mitch Horacek this season. After posting a 4.91 ERA at Frederick last season, the lefty from Colorado has been dinged for a 5.55 ERA in ten starts at Frederick this year. Horacek allowed four earned runs in four innings. One hopes he can turn it around, but...eesh. Another young Key on whose mighty shoulders lie great expectations is Jomar Reyes. The Dominican teenager is still pretty young for this level of ball, but his meager .207/.263/.329 slash line isn't going to earn him a promotion any time soon. Reyes struck out three times.
