The O's are in the middle of a streak where they play some pretty bad teams. They just took two out of three from the last-place Yankees. Now, they get the fourth-place Athletics before traveling to Minnesota to face the Twins, who are the second-worst team in all of baseball. Gotta capitalize.
Unfortunately, it's Rich Hill versus Ubaldo Jimenez tonight. That does not set up well for the Birds. Hill is a soft-tosser with a high strikeout-rate and he is left-handed. As a team, the O's bat 25 points lower against southpaws. And Jimenez has stunk against the A's in his career (3-1, 5.28 ERA).
Since Hill is throwing, we don't get to see either of last night's heros. Hyun-Soo Kim earned his way on and got all the way around to third base for Pedro Alvarez to drive him in. Well, Nolan Reimold pinch ran, but it was Kim in spirit! The struggling Joey Rickard returns to the lineup. I love Joey, but...HYUN SOO KIM! Nah! Nah! NahNahNah! NahNahNah!
Maybe he will pinch hit later on. *fingers crossed*
On a side note: Manny Machado and Yonder Alonso face-off in a familial battle! They are brothers-in-law as Manny is married to Yonder's sister. At this point, you probably already knew that. But it's still cool! Your's truly wrote a post about in a couple years ago!
Anyway. On to the baseball!
