Orioles minors 5/31: Norfolk and Bowie slug their ways to wins

There were only two games played for the affiliates last night, but happily both were wins.

Norfolk Tides 8, Lehigh Valley IronPigs (PHI) 6

Norfolk came out on the right side of this slugfest with Christian Walker leading the way. Walker was 4-for-5 with a double, a home run, and 4 RBI. Trey Mancini also had a multi-hit game, going 2-for-4 with a walk. And it was a big night for Sharlon Schoop, brother of Jonathan, who had three hits of his own.

The IronPigs scored all six runs in the first two innings and all were charged to starter David Hale. Hale lasted just 1.2 innings with 9 hits allowed. It wasn't pretty. The Tides bullpen impressively held their opponents to just one hit over the final 7.1 innings.

Bowie Baysox 10, Richmond Flying Squirrels (SFG) 0

The Baysox had a great time in Richmond last night, scoring double digits on 14 hits in the game. Garabez Rosa had a four-hit game while Drew Dosch contributed two hits, including a home run. Chance Sisco went 1-for-3 with a walk.

Jayson Aquino isn't having a great year for Bowie, but you wouldn't know it from last night's game. He pitched eight shutout innings with only four hits and a walk allowed. He struck out seven with 12 groundouts.

Newly promoted Jimmy Yacabonis pitched a perfect ninth to close out the game.

Frederick Keys: OFF

Delmarva Shorebirds vs. Hickory Crawdads (TEX): Postponed

After a rainout on Memorial Day, the Shorebirds and Crawdads were victims of Tropical Storm Bonnie once again and had their doubleheader rained out last night. They will attempt another today.
