Orioles minors 6/13: As good as Gallardo gets?

Norfolk Tides 4, Charlotte Knights 1

Yovani Gallardo made a not terrible rehab start striking out five in five innings and allowing an earned run via a dong. Local kid L.J. Hoes hit a dong of his own and journeyman middle infielder Ozzie Martinez cracked things open with a two double night.

Frederick Keys 7, Myrtle Beach Pelicans 3

Lucas Long had a darn fine outing. Long has been notable in his ability to generate groundballs, but struck out six in six innings on this night. Long allowed five baserunners and one earned run. Conor Bierfeldt seems like he's been in the system forever, though he was drafted in 2013. That being said, 25 years old is a little long in the tooth for the Carolina League. Even so, Bierfeldt has hit seven homers in 22 games for the Keys this season and that's okay. Jomar Retes took an oh-fer on the evening.

Delmarva Shorebirds 3, Kannapolis Intimidators 1

Not one to sit on his laurels, Ryan Mountcastle got right back to business after having been named South Atlantic League player of the week. The 19 year old shortstop singled and homered and is now slashing a pretty solid .281/.365/.425 on the season. Garrett Cleavinger pitched three shutout innings in relief.
