Norfolk 4, Durham 2

David Hale was scratched from the start due to a calf injury (and not a move to the Orioles’ bullpen, as had been initially speculated), and the Tides’ relievers pieced together a great game. Richard Rodriguez was no great shakes, giving up 2 ER and 5H in just 2.1 IP, but Scott McGough followed with 3.2 scoreless innings for the win. Chaz Roe, Pedro Beato and Oliver Drake worked the final three innings. Christian Walker doubled, singled and added a sacrifice fly.

Bowie 4, Erie 5

Garabez Rosa has 3 RBI, but it wasn’t enough for the Baysox, as Erie never trailed in the game. Quincy Latimore did stroke a HR for the Baysox. Starter Jayson Aquino has a pretty bad night, allowing 5 ER and 9 H over 5.0 IP.

Frederick 1, Lynchburg 2 (7)

Playing in game one on an MLB rehab assignment, Caleb Joseph finished 0-for-2 with an RBI. Jay Gonzalez hit an opposite field double to left, moved up to third on a wild pitch and scored on a Joseph sac-fly. That would be the only run Frederick would muster. Starter Cory Jones allowed six hits over five innings in a losing effort. He walked two and struck out three.

Frederick 2, Lynchburg 3 (7)

Mitch Horacek gave up three runs on seven hits over 6.0 IP. He walked one and struck out four. Aderlin Rodriguez had a RBI triple.

Delmarva 4, Hickory 1

The Shorebird won their eighth straight, but the half-season division crown remains elusive. Delmarva must sweep the remaining three games from Hickory (37-30) AND Hagerstown must lose their last two games to Greenville in order for the Shorebirds to be crowned first half champions. In last night’s game, Cristian Alvarado struck out seven over six shutout innings on just 74 pitches. Ryan Mountcastle went 2-for-4 with a double and Alex Murphy went 2-for-4 with a home run and 3 RBI.

Aberdeen 2, Hudson Valley 4

Starter Alex Wells gave up 2 ER in just 5.0 IP, and reliever Will Shepley did the same in just 2.0 IP. Randolph Gassaway and Guillermo Salas each had two hits.
