Orioles minors 6/3: Keys rout Nats, Delmarva swept in DH

The Keys won big and the Tides eeked out a win of their own in last night's games.

Norfolk Tides 3, Pawtucket Red Sox 2

Joe "The Gunk" Gunkel pitched into the seventh inning last night to pick up the win for the Tides. He allowed an unearned run in the first after a throwing error by catcher Aubry Perez, then left the game with two runners on and one out in the seventh. Chaz Roe allowed his inherited runner to score on a sacrifice bunt.

On offense, Trey Mancini hit his sixth home run as a Tide. Xavier Avery and Dariel Alvarez each knocked in one run apiece. Christian Walker was 1-for-4 with a double while Mike Yasztrzemski went hitless.

Akron Rubber Ducks (CLE) 7, Bowie Baysox 6 (13 innings)

Ater three innings the Baysox held a 5-1 lead but couldn't hold on. The Ducks tied the game in the seventh and it wasn't untied until Jon Keller gave up two run homer in the 13th inning.

Brandon Barker started for the Baysox and surrendered four runs in six innings. The big blow came in the fifth when he allowed a bases loaded double to Clint Frazier, one of Cleveland's top prospects.

The Baysox racked up 14 hits in the game, four by Henry Urrutia. Chance Sisco went 2-for-5 and Joey Terdoslavich hit an Earl Weaver Special.

Frederick Keys 15, Potomac Nationals 3

The combination of 14 hits and five walks from the Keys and four errors by the P-Nats was good for 15 runs last night. Cameron Kneeland and Aderlin Rodriguez each contributed a home run and a double, with Kneeland picking up five RBI. Jonah Heim went 2-for-4 with a walk while Jomar Reyes was hitless.

Newly acquired Franderlin Romero picked up the ol' quality start, giving up three runs in six innings. In addition to giving up seven hits, he walked three and struck out three.

Greensboro Grasshoppers (MIA) 5, Delmarva Shorebirds 3 - Game 1

The Shorebirds had only five hits in this game, but two of the were home runs. Cedric Mulluns and Steve Laurino both hit their third dinger of the year, and Mullins also doubled. Both Alex Murphy and D.J. Stewart went hitless.

Ofelky Peralta started for the Birds and did not fare well. He gave up all five Grasshoppers runs in just three innings pitched. Patrick Baker pitched the final three innings with one hit and two walks allowed.

Greensboro 2, Delmarva 1 - Game 2

Delmarva's offense was even worse in the second game of the doubleheader as they picked up on ly three hits. Their only run scored came on a solo homer by Alex Murphy.

Francisco Jimenez gave up two runs in five innings, which wasn't bad but also wasn't good enough on this night. He picked up the loss with a pitching line of 5 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 4 K.
