Orioles minors 7/19: Lots of losing on the farm

The Delmarva Shorebirds had the best day yesterday and they were off. All four other minor league teams took the loss.

Buffalo Bisons (TOR) 3, Norfolk Tides 2

Mike Wright started and things got off to a bad start when he gave up three runs in the first two innings. He settled down after that and went on to pitch seven innings with just those three runs allowed.

The Tides had seven hits in the game and Trey Mancini, went 2-for-4, was the only Tide to reach base more than once. Michael Almanzar had a triple, which is only worth mentioning because triples are cool.

Binghamton Mets 3, Bowie Baysox 2 (11)

He didn’t factor into the decision, but Jayson Aquino had a very nice night. He pitched eight innings with four strikeouts and one walk. He gave up two runs and finished his night with just 86 pitches.

The Baysox offense only managed two runs through 11 innings, which just wasn’t enough. Drew Dosch doubled and tripled in the game and Garabaz Rosa had three hits. Sharlon Schoop, brother of Jonathan, was on base three times with two hits and a walk.

Carolina Mudcats (ATL) 6, Frederick Keys 4

David Richardson started for the Keys and pitched 4.1 innings with three runs allowed. He lost all control in the fifth inning, throwing two wild pitches and following that with a walk. Austin Meyer relieved him and pitched 1.2 innings with just a walk allowed. Ryan Meisinger, the pride of Prince Frederick Maryland, gave up three runs to blow the lead.

The Keys had just six hits in the game with two each coming from Cameron Kneeland and Aderlin Rodriguez. D.J. Stewart went 0-for-3 with a walk.

Delmarva Shorebirds: OFF
Staten Island Yankees 8, Aberdeen Ironbirds 5 (11)

Travis Seabrooke started for the Ironbirds and gave up just one run on three hits in five innings. Ryan Moseley, an eighth round pick this year, gave up two runs in 1.2 innings. Both runs came on a home run. The losing pitcher, who pitched the 10th and 11th innings, was Lucas Brown. Brown was drafted in the 36th round this year.

Jason Heinrich reached base three times, including an extra innings home run that tied the game. Alejandro Juviar also homered and knocked in three runs.
