The series so far has been nothing short of a disaster for the Orioles. That won't be made much better if they manage to win the final game of the series this afternoon. Losing three out of four or four out of four to a barely afloat Yankees team is rather pathetic. No wonder the Orioles lost hold on first place as a result.
For those hoping the Orioles can manage to salvage one of these games, well... look, there are lineups and there are lineups. The good news is that Manny Machado and Chris Davis are back in there. The bad news is Adam Jones is still out, as is Matt Wieters.
Those guys aren't suffering from the flu, or whatever it is, as far as we know - Jones was lifted from last night's game with back spasms and Wieters still has an ailing foot after he was hit by a pitch by Ivan Nova on Monday. Joey Rickard hurt his hand last night, too, so the only healthy player on the bench is Pedro Alvarez. Geez.
Everything kind of sucks right now. Maybe the sickness that's ravaged the clubhouse is the explanation for this series. Every night when the sun goes down, you don't panic wondering if it will rise again tomorrow morning. The sun will come up, just like the Orioles offense will break out and be awesome again. Not that this knowledge is much help to the person who's stumbling through the dark without a flashlight.
