The west coast road trip has taken an ugly turn as the Orioles look to Ubaldo Jimenez to keep them from a sweep.

Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

I am on record as hating west coast road trips. Today will be the first full game I get to watch since they went out last week. I would be in favor of redoing the American and National Leagues so that they were split geographically, but I assume that will never happen.

After taking two games from the Padres the Orioles have fallen apart in Seattle and now must win today in order to avoid the four-game sweep. I believe that the Orioles have a good chance to win every single game, this one included. But when the pitching matchup is Ubaldo Jimenez, who has somehow pitched in two straight wins despite not looking all that good, and Hisashi Iwakuma, who no-hit the Orioles the last time he saw them, I do feel some doubt.

There's nothing to do but wait and see and hope for the best. I plan to enjoy this game because it's the only one I'll get to watch in its entirety the entire nine-game road trip.
