The Orioles need a new long relief man every day because the starting pitchers just keep getting lit up so early in games. Those same starting pitching struggles keep putting them in gigantic holes that not even good offensive efforts, like last night's five run output, can help them climb out from these deficits.
Ubaldo Jimenez spoiled the party for the 50th anniversary celebration of the 1966 World Series winning Orioles team. It's another party today, a hot sweaty party, for the Manny Machado garden gnome crowd. It is hopefully a party that will not see an appearance by Jason Garcia, recently called up (perhaps even for just a day) but with Yovani Gallardo starting, who really knows what is going to happen?
A once comfortable division lead has dwindled to a single game. An Orioles loss today combined with a Blue Jays win and they'll be tied. The Angels are bad and the Orioles are good at home. Here's hoping they can find a way to overcome their difficulties. I won't be holding my breath. Stay hydrated today, friends.
