Monday Bird Droppings: I have seen the future

Dylan Bundy's the real deal; Chris Davis has had his struggles; Team Steve on the shelf?

Dennis Wierzbicki-USA TODAY Sports

Alex Rodriguez may be retiring and Ichiro got his 3,000th hit, but we've got Manny Machado. After weeks of fretting about offensive output, the Orioles unleashed their frustrations of James Shields Manny with three homers in three innings, Thor and J.J...oh, the humanity. That in and of itself would have made for quite the Sunday funday had it not been for yet another dominating performance from Dylan Bundy. Wow, guys. The O's play their next seven in the Bay area with a Kevin Gausman vs. Kendall Graveman (which KG will own it?) duel in Oaktown tonight. Despite unlloading Rich Hill and Josh Reddick, the A's series feels like it has the potential to be a trap, but maybe we'll all be pleasantly surprised and the O's will roll into San Fran with lock tight grip on first in the AL East.

Incidentally...how are we feeling about the Birdland Power Co. moniker bestowed upon this year's offense?

...and for you Olympics watchers, how about Bethesda native Katie Ledecky?

Pearce on his injury, Bundy his outing and other Orioles notes & quotes - Steve Melewski
Steve Pearce with strained flexor mass. Totally awesome.

Manny Machado, Dylan Bundy show why the Orioles invested top-5 picks in them - Carroll County Times Now if Kevin Gausman could keep it together, we really might have something, here.

Davis temporarily dropped to sixth in order; he needs to stay there (or lower) for a while - BaltimoreBaseball.com This already seems dated and one wonders if Buck won't see if he can get Chris Davis on track against the cellar dwelling A's. You wouldn't be wrong if you were encouraged by Thor's Sunday performance in Chicago.

Camden Depot: Ariel Miranda Wasn't Going to Help the Orioles Don't cry for Ariel Miranda

20 years ago today, Eddie Murray hit a go ahead home run as the O's beat the Brewers 6-4. The round tripper moved Eddie past Lou Gehrig into 15th on the all time homer list. Glenn Davis saved the O's from being no hit by Chuck Nagy on this day in 1992. Probably one of the best things he did in the orange and black.

It's the birthday of Eddy (not Eduardo) Rodriguez. Doug Melvin, who was a special assistant in the much-maligned Roland Hemond front office also celebrates a birthday today.
