GameThread for Baltimore Orioles at Detroit Tigers, Sep 11, 2016 1:10 PM EDT

Chris Tillman is back from the disabled list and starting today's game. Let's hope he does better than Jordan Zimmermann did yesterday. A win will give the Orioles a series win and keep them alone in the 2nd WC spot.

I know that today is the first Sunday of football season and as such many of you will have competition for your attention from the Ravens, Redskins, or whoever your pigskin team of choice is. But it's September and the Orioles are fighting for their lives for a playoff position. I can't imagine how any football game is more exciting than that!

Yesterday the Tigers brought back an important member of their starting rotation from the disabled list and the Orioles destroyed him. Today the Orioles are bringing back an important member of their starting rotation and I'm really hoping it works out a little better. If Chris Tillman can come back strong over the final few weeks of the season it could be a game changer for the Orioles. Of course, if they hit four dingers every game they might not need him.

The A.L. East standings are as close they can be with four teams within three games of the division lead. That's crazy. I'm starting to really worry about the Yankees. Those jerks. Here are the other games to keep an eye on today: TB @ NYY, 1:05; BOS @ TOR, 1:07; CHC @ HOU, 8:10.

Let's go O's! Just keep winning!
