Orioles Game 146 Game Thread: vs. Rays, 7:05

Andy Marlin-USA TODAY Sports

There are just 17 Orioles regular season games remaining and the next four of them will be at home against the Rays. That is auspicious, much as it is auspicious that the Red Sox will be playing the Yankees for four games while the Orioles are playing the Rays, but the Orioles have got to win to keep things going for themselves.

And in tonight's case they're going to have to win when Yovani Gallardo is starting. Well, believe it or not, Gallardo has four quality starts out of his last seven. Maybe that's a good sign. I don't know. I'm nervous, but then again I'm always nervous about the Orioles. Especially when the other team is starting a lefty, as the Rays are tonight with Blake Snell.

The good news (this is me being sarcastic now) is that Mike Wright and Paul Janish have rejoined the Orioles for reasons unknown to anyone. With no personal slight meant to either one of those gentlemen, I hope that we never need to see either one.

Out-of-town scoreboard watch for the night: Root for the Yankees over the Red Sox (yes, ugh) and the Angels over the Blue Jays. The Astros and Mariners are off today, while the Tigers already lost to the Twins.
