Norfolk at Charlotte - PPD
Bowie 4, Akron 7
In the resumption of a game from Aug 21, Bowie served as the home team and could not climb out of a 6-3 deficit when the game resumed in the 5th inning. Brian Duensing worked three solid innings allowing a run on three hits while striking out four batters and the Baysox mounted a rally in the 9th, but it was not to be.
Bowie 3, Akron 6 (F/7)
Starter Matthew Grimes didn’t fare well, giving up six earned runs in just 4.0 IP on five hits. He struck out five, but walked three. A trio of Baysox has two hits, as Julio Borbon, Chris Dickerson and Wynston Sawyer all collected a pair. Of course, two of those guys are ex-MLBers waiting for a callup, so they kind of should be getting two hits a night in AA.
Frederick 3, Wilmington 5
Starter Lucas Long wasn’t helped by his defense, as he gave up four runs, but just one was earned. He struck out eight in just 5.0 IP of work, but a four-run 4th inning made his a short night. D.J. Stewart went 2-for-5, while Conor Bierfeldt went 2-for-4 as did j.q. hggins’ main man Yermin Mercedes.
Delmarva 3, Kannapolis 2
Francisco Jimenez gave up just one run in 6.0 IP and he needed to be good, as the Shorebirds had just three hits on offense. Thankfully, two of those hits were home runs by Cedric Mullins and Drew Turbin.
Aberdeen 1, Brooklyn 11
The IronBirds used five pitchers and every one gave up a least a run, It was that kind of night. Feel badly for Daniel Ayers today - without recording an out, he gave up five runs on four hits and a walk. There will hopefully be better days, Daniel. The IronBirds had just three hits, and Preston Palmeiro’s double was the only extra base hit of the night.
