ALCS Game 1 open thread

The good news is that the American League Championship Series isn’t a Yankees-Red Sox affair. The Yankees are still in it, though. Go Astros!

This Orioles fan’s postseason Haterade tour is proceeding nicely. The Red Sox are gone, their manager booted due to glorious failure. The Nationals are out, in part because of a sequence of events that has never been seen in the entire history of baseball. These things are wonderful, but one foe yet remains to be vanquished.

Yes, it’s the Yankees. It’ll be up to the Astros now to send them packing and dash the dreams of all of the poor seven year old Yankee fans who have never seen a World Series in their lifetimes.

Is Aaron Judge going to keep striking out a million times? Is Didi Gregorius going to continue getting all of the clutch hits? Can anybody in the American League actually pitch well over the course of this postseason? We’ll start to get some answers to that tonight as the best-of-seven ALCS gets underway in Houston. Do this thing, Astros. Grind them into dust and don’t look back.

This game will be airing on Fox Sports 1.
