Saturday League Championship Series open thread

Dear Astros, please continue to beat the Yankees. Thanks a bunch. And to the Cubs and Dodgers, well, whatever. Have a nice game.

There won’t be many more days this year after today where there’s multiple baseball games being played. Enjoy it while it lasts, before the winter sets in. Maybe the results will give us something to enjoy aside from just watching the games.

Is it even enjoyable to watch these games? So far, the right teams have been winning, mostly, but nearly every game is taking more than three and a half hours, if not over four. The speed up the game initiatives have clearly had no impact on the postseason. I love baseball, but come on, if a 2-1 game, like the Yankees and Astros played last night, takes three hours and 20 minutes, that’s not fun for anybody.

Well, they’re back in action at about 4 o’clock today on Fox Sports 1. The NLCS Game 1 between the Cubs and Dodgers gets underway at about 8 o’clock on TBS. Will the Yankees-Astros game still be going on when that second game starts? The way this postseason has gone, it’s possible.

Justin Verlander pitching against Luis Severino should at least be an interesting matchup there, and out in LA, Clayton Kershaw is pitching, which is always something worth watching. So that’s fun.
