Happy Wednesday, Camden Chatters! Are you ready for game seven of the World Series? I have to admit that I was torn last night, because I wanted the series to go seven games, but I also would have liked to see Justin Verlander be the winning pitcher in the clincher. No matter what happens tonight, it is one of the best World Series I can remember.
I have curated a few Orioles-related links for you, so let’s get to them!
Orioles organizational depth report: With or without Castillo, catcher a stable position - Baltimore Sun
I’m not as confident as Jon Meoli that the Orioles will be just fine if Welington Castillo leaves. Not if they are trying to contend.
Just say no to a Wade Miley return to Birdland - Birds Watcher
My question is, why would Wade Miley want to stay in Baltimore? He's been terrible here.
A look at more free agent starting pitchers - Steve Melewski
If these are the names being thrown around as possibilities, the Orioles are in trouble. No offense, MiGo.
Does Jonathan Schoop Have Another Gear? - Camden Depot
Jonathan Schoop had a very good year, but could he be even better?
Is today your birthday? Happy birthday! You have three Orioles birthday buddies. Former proud member of #TeamSteve, Steve Tolleson turns 34 today. And while Fernando Valenzuela is better known as a Dodger, he also spent 1993 with the Orioles. He turns 57 today. And finally, the late Jim Pyburn, who spent his entire three-year career with the Orioles from 1955-57, was born on this date in 1932.
On this day in 1960, Orioles shortstop Ron Hansen was named the Rookie of the Year. And in 1979, Edward Bennett Williams bought the team for $12.3 million.
