Friday night Orioles/World Baseball Classic open thread

The Orioles won’t be on TV in Baltimore, but Adam Jones and the American WBC team will, if you have MLB Network.

It’s Friday night and there will be some Orioles baseball, which might actually sort of trick you for a second into thinking real baseball is back. We could use that kind of warm thinking after having snow drop in the Baltimore area on Friday morning, even if there wasn’t very much of it.

Of course, the game won’t be on television in Baltimore, and in fact, it won’t be on the radio either! If you want to watch, you’re going to have to tune in to NESN, because the Orioles are playing the Red Sox on the road tonight.

There will be some other baseball action tonight, with the United States taking on Colombia in the World Baseball Classic at about 6pm, same as when the Orioles are playing the Red Sox. The WBC game will actually be on TV, on MLB Network, so you might have an easier time watching that.

With this Orioles lineup, it’s good there’s something else to watch:

  1. Aneury Tavarez - CF
  2. Johnny Giavotella - 2B
  3. Hyun Soo Kim - LF
  4. Chris Johnson - 3B
  5. Chris Dickerson - RF
  6. Trey Mancini - 1B
  7. Ryan Flaherty - SS
  8. Francisco Pena - C
  9. Anthony Santander - DH

Ubaldo Jimenez is the starting pitcher. Do well tonight, Ubaldo!

According to MASN’s Roch Kubatko, other pitchers who have made the trip are: Brad Brach, Chris Lee, Jesus Liranzo, (maybe Brian) Moran, (maybe Brian) Gonzalez, Stefan Crichton, and Jimmy Yacabonis.

If you’re watching the USA in the WBC instead, here’s their starting lineup:

  1. Ian Kinsler - 2B
  2. Adam Jones - CF
  3. Nolan Arenado - 3B
  4. Paul Goldschmidt - 1B
  5. Buster Posey - C
  6. Giancarlo Stanton - RF
  7. Daniel Murphy - DH
  8. Andrew McCutchen - LF
  9. Brandon Crawford - SS

With Chris Archer as the starting pitcher for the USA team.
