Welcome to Bird Droppings, Camden Chatters. We are now 12 days from Opening Day, which is pretty close indeed. The jersey number 12 was most recently worn by outfielder-turning-pitcher Dariel Alvarez and has also been worn by the likes of Mike Devereaux, Hall of Famer Roberto Alomar, and Mark Brown fave Brandon Fahey.
Did you watch last night's exciting World Baseball Classic semifinal? I somehow managed to stay awake just long enough to see Adam Jones' heroics that propelled team USA into tonight's final against Puerto Rico. Speaking of tonight, if you want you can have yourself a baseball double header. The Orioles play the Rays tonight at 6 p.m., a game that will be broadcast on MASN. You can follow that with Jones in the WBC final which begins at 9.
Should we get to the links? Ok then, but I warn you we're running a little low on them this morning:
Jiménez says today was "even better" than last outing (O's lose 5-2) - School of Roch
He had a 27-pitch inning and walked three guys, but Ubaldo felt pretty good about his game yesterday.
How Baltimore Orioles' Zach Britton became new Mariano Rivera - ESPN
No pressure, Zach.
Oliver Drake's rough spring creating roster quandary for Orioles - Baltimore Sun
Oliver Drake seems to be playing himself right off of the 25-man roster
Change Agent, Brady Anderson | FanGraphs Baseball
Another take on the story of Brady that Ken Rosenthal wrote about a few days ago.
Is today your birthday? Happy birthday! You have two Orioles birthday buddies. They are Billy Goodman, a utility infielder who played part of the 1957 season with the Orioles, and Mike Morse, a rather useless trade acquisition late in the 2013 season.
On this day in 1981, Earl Weaver was suspended for removing his team from the field during a spring training game to protest the umpires not providing him with an updated lineup card.
