Orioles vs. Tigers final spring training game thread

Orioles spring training will finally be over after this one last game... although they still aren’t doing their final roster cuts today.

This is finally it. Spring training will be over after this game. Real lineups for nine real innings every game from here on out, starting on Monday. The Orioles will make their final roster cuts eventually, but according to MASN’s Roch Kubatko, that won’t be happening today, so if you are still wondering what they’re going to do, well, you will keep wondering.

In honor of the final spring training game, the Orioles are deploying what looks a lot like a real lineup that they might use against left-handed pitching in the regular season:

  1. Joey Rickard - LF
  2. Adam Jones - CF
  3. Manny Machado - 3B
  4. Mark Trumbo - 1B
  5. Chris Davis - DH
  6. Jonathan Schoop - 2B
  7. Trey Mancini - RF
  8. Welington Castillo - C
  9. J.J. Hardy - SS

Dylan Bundy is the starting pitcher. One thing that will be going on behind Bundy is that Mancini and Trumbo will be alternating innings between first base and right field. That’s one of those things that sounds like a joke, but it’s not. If you can get to a television, you will be able to watch this experiment on MASN.

They’re not actually going to carry this Mancini in the outfield thing into the regular season, are they? You’d hope the Orioles aren’t that crazy although they may be that desperate. Baseball is pretty weird sometimes.
