Hey, you. Yes, you. Are you a lurker who's been watching Camden Chat from afar, waiting for the right chance to jump in and introduce yourself, only you haven't found your chance? Or are you somebody brand new to Camden Chat who doesn't know where you should say hello? I have good news.
This is the one thread every year where we are all on equal footing, lurkers coming out of the shadows: The quasi-annual Camden Chat introductions thread.
If you're brand new, make sure to go to the upper right of the page and sign up for an SB Nation account first, then come back here and join our site down below in the comments section. Either way, head down to the comments and tell us a bit about who you are. Next time you come back, act like you've been here forever. As long as you correctly remember to use the reply button, no one will even notice you're new.
We would love to know about you, not in a creepy way, just in the way that it's fun to get to know your fellow Orioles fans. Where are you from? Where are you now? How did you become an Orioles fan? Who's your favorite Oriole of the present/of all time?
Why did you pick that screen name? What do you do when you're not watching baseball? Do you have a favorite story that everyone else you know is tired of hearing, so you feel like telling it to someone new? Anything you feel like telling, we're listening.
As for me, I am Mark and I am a Maryland lifer and I probably always will be. I'm OK with it at this point.
Thanks to my parents, I have been an Orioles fan since before I was even born. They attended Game 2 of the 1983 World Series, and so did I, although I had something of an obstructed view seat. My mom was eight months pregnant at that time. I have loved the Orioles for as long as I can remember, and somehow since I've been an adult I've come to love them even more, even though they were bad for most of those years. It's more fun now.
My favorite current Oriole is Adam Jones, because I love the way he's brought his gregarious personality to the franchise. He's made Baltimore his home and he isn't afraid of making some brash comments to show people that this team isn't afraid of anybody. My favorite Oriole of all time is, boringly enough, Cal Ripken Jr.
When I'm not watching or writing baseball, I'm probably either reading or playing video games. Games I've been known to play lately are Hearthstone and Heroes of the Storm.
So that's me. Who are you? If you're a longtime Camden Chat commenter, thank you for joining us for another season. I hope it's a fun one. If you're returning after a long time gone, welcome back! And if you're brand new, welcome to the party. There's no better place to talk about the Orioles than right here.
You never know who you’re going to meet around here. I hope you enjoy your stay.
