Orioles spring training game thread vs. Phillies

Today’s Orioles game doesn’t count, but it’s on television and it’s cold outside, so let’s enjoy it.

Spring training rolls on. There’s a whole lot of it left. The next little while of it, however, will not have many Orioles lineups that look like regular season Orioles lineups, because the rest of the BC-bound O’s - Adam Jones, Manny Machado, Welington Castillo - will be departing soon.

The good news is that MASN has deigned to televise this particular Sunday afternoon contest, so if you’re really wanting to get to see something close to a real Orioles lineup, you can tune in and get an opportunity to do so today.

Whether we want to classify this as a real Orioles lineup is another story. A regular season lineup with Mark Trumbo in right field and Seth Smith as the designated hitter is something that would cause some consternation with yours truly and hopefully others. Trumbo getting time there even in spring training may also cause some consternation.

According to MASN’s Roch Kubatko, the other Orioles pitchers expected to see action behind Wright are Darren O’Day, Jayson Aquino, Parker Bridwell, and Donnie Hart.

But it’s cold out there today and any live Orioles on television is a good thing, so enjoy it while it’s here.
