Orioles spring training game thread at Tigers

No television and no Baltimore radio for the Orioles today, along with a whole lot of fringe players in the lineup.

Nothing says a spring training game is being taken seriously by the Orioles quite like having Johnny Giavotella as the leadoff batter. That’s a real thing that is happening today as the O’s - some of them - travel to Tigers camp for today’s exhibition contest.

In true O’s spring fashion, the game is neither televised nor on radio in the Baltimore area. You will have to find a way to tune in to the Tigers radio feed to hear any of it at all - if you feel a great urge to hear about a game where Ryan Flaherty is the #5 batter in the lineup, anyway.

The Orioles would not have many regulars on a road trip anyway, but they have fewer still available now that players have started to head off for the World Baseball Classic. And that’s how you end up with a lineup like this:

That bench of players who made the trip doesn’t look much more exciting.

Pitchers in line for action after starter Dylan Bundy are Mychal Givens, Oliver Drake, Jason Garcia, Jesus Liranzo, and Logan Ondrusek. I thought Givens was already off to the WBC, but maybe relief pitchers don’t have to show up until later.
