Have you had just about enough of the daily routine of a game that doesn’t count and barely features any regular Orioles players? That’s the reality of spring training and there’s still just shy of a month left of that, including today’s game.
The good news is that this afternoon’s contest is on television, so at least you can watch a lineup that features Paul Janish, Chris Johnson, and Craig Gentry. And that’s the home game lineup! But MASN has deemed this game to be worth airing where yesterday’s exhibition against the Dominican Republic was not, so here we are.
The lineup for today’s game:
- Seth Smith - RF
- Craig Gentry - CF
- Chris Davis - DH
- Mark Trumbo - 1B
- Hyun Soo Kim - LF
- Chris Johnson - 3B
- Ryan Flaherty - 2B
- Caleb Joseph - C
- Paul Janish - SS
A lineup where there must be two people below Flaherty is really something. Oh, and the starting pitcher for the O’s, at least for three innings if he doesn’t melt down, is Wade Miley.
It’s not all spring training’s fault that this lineup is filled with so many B-teamers or lower. After all, when three of your starting nine players are off doing World Baseball Classic stuff, there’s only so much you can do.
According to MASN’s Roch Kubatko, the pitchers expected to see action behind Miley are Donnie Hart, Darren O’Day, and Tyler Wilson. Also in uniform today, over from the minor league camp, are Keegan Akin, Alex Wells, Garrett Cleavinger, and Cody Satterwhite. Seeing Akin or Wells in the ninth inning might be interesting.
