Orioles prospects 4/20: One blowout, three rainouts

Not much happened on the farm Thursday, as only one O’s affiliate got in their game.

Thanks to the rain that hit the East Coast yesterday, Frederick’s home game and Norfolk’s game at Buffalo were both canceled. Delmarva’s game against Hagerstown started, but was suspended in the top of the second.

That leaves the Baysox, who probably wished their game had been a washout, too:

Richmond Flying Squirrels 12, Bowie Baysox 2 (F/8 innings)

Despite equaling Richmond’s total of ten hits, the Baysox got crushed yesterday. That was largely caused by the defense, which committed three errors that led to some big innings.

David Hess didn’t exactly have his best stuff, but three of his seven runs allowed were unearned and he did manage to strike out five batters in his five innings pitched. Garrett Cleavinger tossed two decent innings after Hess left the game, but Jon Keller allowed a 3-run bomb in the 8th to break the game open even further.

The Baysox actually carried a 1-0 lead into the 4th inning, thanks to a first inning RBI single by Aderlin Rodriguez that scored Cedric Mullins, who led off the game with a single of his own.

The only other Bowie run came in the form of a solo shot by Austin Wynns, who has been absolutely raking so far in the young season. Over his first nine games, Wynns is batting .484/.543/.774.

Wynns and Rodriguez each finished with a pair of hits, as did Garabez Rosa. The only extra-base hit other than Wynns’ home run was a double off the bat of Audry Perez.
