O’s prospects (4/21): 4 teams, 6 games, 2 wins

The O’s MiLB teams played a lot of games against the Walgreens’ and it could have gone better.

MLB: Los Angeles Angels at Baltimore Orioles
Mike Wright pitched well, but didn’t get the win.

Norfolk 0, Syracuse (Walgreens) 3

Mike Wright pitched 6.0 IP and gave up 3 ER, but the Tides offense did nothing. I do mean nothing. Only one Tides batter, David Washington, had even 2 hits.

Bowie 8, Harrisburg (Walgreens) 2

D.J. Stewart went 3-for-5, as did Anderlin Rodriguez. Starter Tanner Scott went a scoreless 3.0 IP, giving up just one hit. Jason Garcia followed up with four scoreless innings of his own to claim the win.

Frederick 3, Salem (Red Sox) 10 (7 innings)

Salem jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the 1st inning and the game never really got any better from there. Cristian Alvarado stayed in for 5.0 IP and gave up 8 runs, all earned. Even Tommy Hunter is shaking his head in disappointment at that.

Frederick 6, Salem (Red Sox) 7 (7 innings)

Salem went up 2-0 in the 1st inning, Frederick came back to score on in the 2nd, and away they went for the entire 7 innings. Salem went up for good in the 6th, and a 1 run effort in the bottom of the 6th wasn’t enough for Frederick. Official not-a-teenager-anymore Ofelky Peralta had a rough night, giving up 5 runs on 6 hits in just 3.1 IP, but avoided the loss. Yermin Mercedes at least had a HR.

Delmarva 3, Hagerstown (Walgreens) 4 (7 innings)

Aussie starter Alex Well went 1.0 IP, giving up no runs and no walks and just one hit on Thursday, but when the game was postponed due to rain, he obviously didn’t figure in the outcome upon resumption in Friday. Lucas Humpal served as Friday’s de facto starter, and gave up 2 runs on 6 hits in 5.1 IP. Jake Bray blew the save, and Kory Groves took the loss. My new favorite Shorebird, Jake Ring, went 1-for-3 to keep his average above .400.

Delmarva 4, Hagerstown (Walgreens) 1 (7 innings)

The Shorebirds scored 1 run in four of the seven innings of the game, allowing just a single Suns run in the 1st inning. Starter Cody Dube went 3.0 IP with just 1 run allowed, while Steven Klimek went 4.0IP scoreless to pick up the win. Seven of the nine Shorebirds hitters collected at least one hit.
