Chris Davis hits 200th Orioles homer, Darren O’Day gets the souvenir

Davis’s first home run of the year - and O’Day’s first home run caught in the bullpen - gave the Orioles a 3-1 lead on Wednesday.

Chris Davis being a strong mammal has been well documented in his Orioles tenure - 199 times before tonight, in fact. In the fourth inning of Wednesday’s game against the Blue Jays, Davis blasted a home run for the 200th time in an Orioles uniform.

That was the first of the year for Davis, and because Davis hit the ball in the direction of the Orioles bullpen, it turned out to be the first Darren O’Day bullpen catch of the year. The Davis blast gave the Orioles a 3-1 lead in the game.

The MLB overlords have deigned to actually allow some video of this to creep its way onto the Internet. Davis crushing the ball for the second O’s homer of the game:

What’s more Orioles than having 100% of your runs coming via the home run? Not a whole heck of a lot, really.

O’Day, who has been getting over a case of the flu, certainly seemed well enough to make his traditional catch:

O’Day had better be careful making catches like that. The way things are going with the Orioles lately, if he’s not careful, they’ll try to stick him in the outfield.
