Friday night gamethread: Orioles vs Yankees, 7:05 PM

The Orioles remain undefeated through the first series of the season! Can they keep up the pace?

Do you know what I'm ready for, friends? I am ready for a stretch of baseball games that doesn't include an off day every other gosh darn day! That is not how baseball is supposed to operate. Starting tonight we finally get a string of back-to-back baseball games, even if there is another off day on Monday.

The always hated Yankees arrive in Baltimore for the first of three weekend series they will play here this season. I'm sure the people in charge of the box office sales are happy with that arrangement, although with it still being early April there probably won't be as big of a Yankees crowd as later in the summer. Whatever, I'll still take them over Red Sox fans.

If you're tuning into this game in hopes of seeing a pitching duel, well I have some bad news for you. Both starters in tonight's game posted ERAs north of five last year, and I'm not talking 5.01. Ubaldo Jimenez and Luis Severino are at different places in their careers but both are coming off of lousy seasons where they were sent to the bullpen because the rotation was too much for them. Will either bounce back? Let's hope it's only Ubaldo who does.
