Norfolk Tides 2, Louisville Bats (Reds) 3
The Bats got the best of the Tides Tuesday night in Louisville. Michael Bourn had two hits, Pedro Alvarez and Robert Andino one each. Chance Cisco was 0-3 – he’s only hitting .235 – and LF Mike Yastrzemski was 3-4, with a home run, and is batting .370. Yastrzemski, as well as Louisville’s Chad Wallach, were each a triple short of the cycle. It must be something in their baseball blood.
Tyler Wilson pitched seven innings and gave up three runs on nine hits at Louisville Slugger Field in front of 6,032 fans. Norfolk is 13-18 on the season.
Bowie Baysox 7, Reading Fightin Phils (Phillies) 6
Brandon Barker gave up gave up five runs on seven hits in 5.1 innings for Bowie. But, a big fourth inning, which saw them score six runs, propelled the Baysox to victory.
The Fightin Phils LF Andrew Pullin was also a triple short of the cycle. I don’t think he has any baseball genes to pair him with Mike Yastrzemski or Chad Wallach, but it is ironic that three players in games involving O’s minor league teams were close to accomplishing that feat.
Aderlin Rodriguez homered in the ninth to win it for Bowie. His batting average is .330 for 2017. The Baysox record is 17-15.
Frederick Keys 8, Down East Wood Ducks (Rangers) 4
Fredrick topped the Wood Ducks Tuesday behind a strong five run sixth inning. 2B Steve Wilkerson – an 8th round Orioles pick from Clemson in 2014 – sparked the rally with a two-run single.
SS Ryan Mountcastle was 0-5 and is hitting .307. RHP Franderlin Romero got the win and the Keys are 17-15.
