Why hello there, Camden Chatters! How about that game last night? On paper, there was no reason to even play a game that featured Ubaldo Jimenez vs. Max Scherzer. Just give the Nationals the win and save us all the trouble. But sometimes baseball is magic, and often times the Nats’ bullpen is terrible.
If you missed the game or just want to re-live the excitement, check out Randy DeCleene’s recap and vote for Most Birdland Player! I voted for Logan Verrett, but there are a lot of solid options.
Tonight the Orioles will take their MLB-best record and head down to DC to try and put this home-and-home series to bed. But we have hours until then, so let’s read some links.
Ad takes dig at Baltimore in the Battle of the Beltways - ABC2News.com

Showalter on a 5-4, 12-inning win - School of Roch
Buck with thoughts on the game, including the short bullpen that pressed Ubaldo into the eighth inning.
Buck Showalter: Trey Mancini has “something to do with” Kim’s limited opportunities - Baltimore Sun
Everyone misses Hyun Soo Kim, who seems to have lost his role on this team. With the short bullpen coming up over and over again, you have to wonder how long Showalter can go with a bench that has so many outfielders on it.
Closer Zach Britton on reports he may be out two months with forearm strain: 'I'm as shocked as anybody to read 60 days.' - BaltimoreBaseball.com
A report came out yesterday that, per an industry source, Zach Britton is expected to miss 45-60 days. Dan Connolly talked to Britton, who said that's news to him.
Will Pedro Alvarez Rejoin the Orioles? - Baltimore Sports and Life
As of this moment? It's hard to imagine. But I like Pedro so I hope he gets his chance.
Former Orioles Melvin Mora Will Become A U.S. Citizen This Week - CBS Baltimore
If you run into Melvin doing some shopping at the Fallston Home Depot, be sure to say congrats!
How could Michael Bourn fit on roster? - The Baltimore Wire
This is a real story about how the Orioles have a big problem on their hands, and that problem is finding a place on the roster for Michael Bourn.
Is today your birthday? Happy birthday! You have just one Orioles birthday buddy, super tall relief pitcher Kam Mickolio. Mickolio is one of two forgotten men who came to Baltimore along with Chris Tillman, Adam Jones, and George Sherrill when Erik Bedard was traded to the Mariners. Do you remember the other forgotten man?
On this day in 2012 the Orioles started their game with three straight home runs from Ryan Flaherty, J.J. Hardy, and Nick Markakis. Ryan Flaherty was batting leadoff??
