The enduring superiority of the Orioles over their southern neighbors when playing according to real baseball rules has been demonstrated for another season. Tonight, that will be put to the test when playing with the joke baseball rules that National League fans act like are superior for some reason.
It won't be a much easier task tonight than it was last night. Washington starter Stephen Strasburg is pretty good. Wade Miley is not as good and is probably due for a stinker of an outing. Perhaps so is Strasburg, who has accumulated his 2.66 ERA while facing nothing but National League East opposition - not exactly the same as dealing with the AL East every time around.
If nothing else, we can be sure that there's always hope if you can get into the bullpen. Although Washington might be thinking the same thing, and it's one of the disappointments of the Norfolk-Baltimore shuttle, Vidal Nuno, who will be out there for this game - but hopefully he won't be needed tonight.
Still no sign of Hyun Soo Kim, even against a righty, which probably does have something (but not everything) to do with those fake baseball rules.
Don't take any liners off your wrist or butt or anywhere else today, Wade. Thanks.
