Orioles finale in Washington postponed due to unrelenting rain

There is to be no Orioles baseball tonight, but the team picked up a much needed off day thanks to inclement weather in Washington, D.C.

Thursday night’s game against the wonderfully nicknamed Washington Walgreens has been postponed due to rain in the area. The tarp was on the field at Nationals Park all day, and it wasn’t coming off. The postponement was announced less than half an hour after the scheduled start time of 7:05pm EST. Hopefully the unscheduled off day will pump some renewed life into the struggling O’s bullpen.

Tonight’s game was set to be a showdown of two young pitchers, with 24 year old Dylan Bundy to go against 25 year old A.J. Cole. Washington had a chance to salvage a split in the “home-and-home” interleague series against our beloved Orioles. That chance at redemption was not to be granted, and the Orioles take the series 2-1.

Depending on how you look at it, though, the Orioles just got swept in what turned out to be a one-game series. This is significant in name only (the first time the Orioles have been swept in 2017), and for purposes of Camden Chat’s pre-season contest.

Edit: The game will be made up Thursday, June 8 at 7:05pm EST in Washington. The O’s are back in action tomorrow night at 8:15pm EST in Kansas City to kick-off a three game set against the floundering Royals.
