The Orioles have finally escaped from a disastrous road trip to the more welcoming environment of Oriole Park at Camden Yards. They will get to face the last place Blue Jays as they return home. The O's really had the Jays number in April, but perhaps this is even more luck that is going to turn here in May, along with the Orioles one-run win-loss record plummeting from the stratosphere back down to earth in a hurry.
It's safe to say that a morose feeling has settled down across Birdland, largely because the pitching totally sucks except for Dylan Bundy, and even he had a bad game yesterday. OK, tonight's starter, Chris Tillman, has yet to have his ERA inflate, although with the way he's looked pitching in his first two games of the year, it seems like it's only a matter of time. Maybe that's just Mark the pessimist talking.
As it turns out, the Blue Jays are also a team with a crummy pitching staff, though that doesn't matter very much for tonight's game because their best starter, Aaron Sanchez, who is likely to strike out a dozen or more Orioles batters, is taking the mound.
Be advised that, due to obligations out in the real world, in the unlikely event that the Orioles do not lose this game, your regular person who rallies folks to do what must be done will not be home around an expected conclusion time for the game. If you don't hear from a Camden Chat writer before the game's end, it will be up to one of you to figure out what to do about that. I suggest a FanPost, if necessary.
Seth Smith is not in the lineup due to lingering problems after taking a foul ball off the face yesterday. Manny Machado is back.
