Norfolk Tides 6, Toledo Mud Hens (Tigers) 2

The Tides gave up 12 hits, but only two runs, and they defeated the Mud Hens on Tuesday night in Toledo, OH, in front of 4,562 fans. Recently demoted from the Detroit Tigers, Anibal Sanchez took the loss going two innings and giving up three runs.

Chance Sisco and Pedro Alvarez went deep for Norfolk, as did 3B Drew Dosch – a 7th round 2013 draft pick for Baltimore. Dosch got it done in front of a home state crowd, going 2-5 including the long ball, as he is from Columbus, OH, and attended Youngstown State.

Jordan Kipper recorded the win and Donnie Hart, as well as Steve Johnson, saw action too. O’s fans will undoubtedly remember Johnson’s 2012 debut at Camden Yards including the subsequent standing ovation that brought goose bumps all around.

Norfolk is 19-25 on the season.

Bowie Baysox 6, Hartford Yard Goats (Rockies) 7

The Baysox gave up a run in the eighth and three in the ninth to lose to the Yard Goats, a Rockies affiliate, in a very Coors Field like ending that was played at Prince George’s Stadium in Bowie, MD.

DJ Stewart hit his seventh home run of the year and is batting .257. 2B Steve Wilkerson also homered for the Baysox and he went 3-4 on the night, with two RBI. Garrett Cleavinger took the loss yielding three runs in 0.2 innings.

Manager Gary Kendall – former major leaguer scout, as well as coach at Baltimore City Community College and Towson State University – and the Baysox are 22-23 in 2017.
