Monday afternoon Orioles game thread: vs. Yankees, 1:05

The Orioles will be without Adam Jones in center field for a third straight game as they try to snap a brutal losing streak. On the bright side (hopefully), Dylan Bundy is pitching.

On this day, as every Memorial Day, we remember those who have given their lives in one of this country's wars.

There's no need for me to tell you that things aren't going very well for the Orioles of late. Losing thirteen of their last sixteen games kind of speaks for itself. When they get good starting pitching, they can't hit. When they do hit, they can't get good starting pitching. At times, they have found different ways to fail - bullpen problems, fielding problems, other problems.

No relief awaits here on Monday afternoon. The first place Yankees are in town. They are bashing the heck out of everything lately. They have good young players, unexpectedly good starting pitching, the healthy, elite closer they expected, and accordingly, just about everything is coming up their way. Why do those guys get all the luck? I would like to know the answer.

There is one piece of good news today, which is that Dylan Bundy is getting the start for the O's. He's pretty much the only starting pitcher who there's any reason to feel good about. Don't feel good for too long though, because the Orioles hitters have to go up against lefty Jordan Montgomery. Actually, hard as it may be to believe, the Orioles are the fourth-best team by OPS against LHP in the AL, with a .729. They may have finally solved their lefty problem. If only every other aspect of the team didn't completely fall apart.

Initially, Adam Jones was back in the lineup after two days absent with a sore ankle and hip. However, manager Buck Showalter warned that the lineup was merely "in pencil" and about an hour before first pitch, Jones was scratched again.

This game will be on MASN in the usual broadcast area and will also have an ESPN broadcast.
