The Orioles are currently tied for last place. If they keep losing, eventually they will just be in last place and there won't be a tie. They're playing like they should be in last place. Not to sound like a broken record, but right now the Orioles can't hit, they can't pitch, and they can't field.
Whatever is wrong is not something that can be solved overnight. In his post-game remarks following Friday's loss, manager Buck Showalter was asked by a reporter whether there is anything he can do to address the players to try to fix things. He responded, "You're assuming that hasn't already happened," and said that several people, including players, have tried to address the situation.
There doesn't seem to be an answer, other than that players who are better than this need to play better. Who ARE the players who are better than this? Manny Machado, certainly. Adam Jones, probably - although when you listen to him talk about how much he's hurting, maybe not. Mark Trumbo too. The rest are pitchers who need to pitch better. That includes Wade Miley, who's pitching tonight. He keeps walking too many people, though, and his ERA will probably be worse by the season's end.
