The Orioles’ affiliates had just two games on the schedule yesterday and rain washed away the home opener for the Aberdeen Ironbirds, meaning only the Norfolk Tides saw any game action. Zach Britton was supposed to have his first rehab game with the Ironbirds, that will take place tonight instead.
Norfolk Tides 10, Durham Bulls (TBR) 2
The Tides had 16 hits and six walks in this game, with each starter recording at least one. They hit so well that they knocked the Bulls starter out of the game in the third inning and they scored on all four pitchers they faced in the game.
Catcher Chance Sisco had a big night at the plate. He singled, homered, and walked three times. Also homering in the game was Pedro Alvarez, his 14th of the season. And speaking of big nights, third baseman Drew Dosch had a four-hit game, including a double.
Five relief pitchers held the Bulls to two runs in the game, with Paul Fry making the start. Fry pitched two innings and gave up both runs. He was followed by Richard Rodriguez, Andrew Faulkner, Shairon Martis, and old friend Steve Johnson.
