Bowie and Frederick win. Norfolk and Delmarva lose. It’s all in the family as Preston Palmeiro, Steve Johnson and Sharlon Schoop all see action.

Louisville Bats (Reds) 7, Norfolk Tides 6

Norfolk was down 7-0, but they came back and only ended up losing 7-6. So there’s that.

Gabriel Ynoa (1-6) and Steve Johnson were bombed, giving up seven runs in six innings. Scott McGough, Andrew Faulkner and Shairon Martis threw three combined shutout innings.

SS Sharlon Schoop – yes, Jonathan’s brother – was 0-3 and is hitting .200 on the season. Pedro Alvarez and Johnny Giavotella had one hit each. Alvarez and Chance Sisco each had an RBI for the Tides.

8,085 saw the game at Harbor Park in Norfolk, Virginia.

Altoona Curve (Pirates) 0, Bowie Baysox 9

Behind 15 hits, Bowie smoked Altoona Tuesday night at Prince George’s Stadium.

Cedric Mullins was 2-3 with two runs scored and two walks. DJ Stewart was 2-4 with 2 RBI and Stephen Wilkerson was 2-3 with a run scored. Miguel Castro (3-0) got the win for Bowie.

The Baysox are within one game of .500 at 38-39.

Wilmington Blue Rocks (Royals) 1, Frederick Keys 5

Keegan Akin (6-5, 3.76) threw a no-hitter for 7 2/3 innings and was brilliant. He ended up throwing eight scoreless, striking out six and walking three. The no-hitter ended with a single from Cody Jones. Jones was a 6th round pick of Kansas City in 2015. Akin, a LHP, was the O’s 2nd round pick in 2016 and is out of Western Michigan.

Randolph Gassaway had three hits for the Keys, and Ryan Mountcastle two, leading the way to victory.

The game was played in a crisp 2:36 at Nymeo Field.

Hagerstown Suns (Nationals) 9, Delmarva Shorebirds 0

The Suns smoked the Shorebirds behind 15 hits and nine runs. Zach Muckenhim pitched five innings and gave up 11 hits and five runs. He is 3-7 on the season.

Preston Palmeiro was 3-4 and is hitting .258 on the season. Delmarva also had two errors and they are 33-41 in 2017.
