Sorry if you’re stuck at work today when so much of the American world is taking the day off to make an extended weekend built around the Fourth of July, which, of course, isn’t actually until tomorrow. There’s some afternoon Orioles baseball to make you feel better, if you can watch it.
Well, there’s no guarantee that watching today’s Orioles baseball will make you feel better, anyway. For starters, Wade Miley is pitching. His April and May Houdini act failed completely in June and Miley didn’t finish June in such a way to make you think things will be any better in July.
On top of that, pitching for the Brewers is a lefty with an 86mph fastball who’s making his fourth ever MLB start. He has mostly been a long reliever in two seasons at the MLB level. That’s Brent Suter. Doesn’t that just SOUND like a guy the Orioles will infuriatingly stink against? Especially since they’re not good on the road or in day games.
Maybe the Orioles can overcome these two big challenges and pull off a win today to get themselves back to .500. That would sure be nice, wouldn’t it? But don’t hold your breath.
