If you’re among the unfortunate souls who’ve been paying attention to the Orioles over the last couple of months, one trend you may have noticed is that they kind of stink against pitchers they haven’t seen before.
I mention this because tonight’s starting pitcher for the Twins is Felix Jorge, who will be making his second ever MLB start in this game. That’s it. He just made his MLB debut on July 1. I think we all know what to dread from this game, and that’s without even getting into the fact that Kevin Gausman will be pitching.
Gausman starts weren’t supposed to be things to dread this season, but yet, here we are. He’s been awful and that’s one reason why the Orioles are where they are in the standings, with hope slipping away daily. Actually, Gausman hasn’t allowed a run in either of his last two starts and he’s coming off an outing of seven shutout innings against the Rays.
Maybe that can continue tonight, and maybe the Orioles offense will muster enough for it to matter whether Gausman pitches well or doesn’t pitch well.
